What is 'Lifestyle' photography?
I am primarily a lifestyle photographer in Round Rock, Pflugerville, Hutto, and Austin. Lifestyle photography is a documentary-style approach to photography where there is little formal posing. I will guide your family and children through a session in order to capture your family's connections, expressions, and emotions as they naturally are. I will ensure your children are relaxed and having fun. As your family relaxes and starts to have fun in front of the camera, natural connections and expressions come to light. It allows me, as your photographer, to capture the timelessness of your family and bring to life your own natural beauty.
Where will we shoot?
I love to photograph outdoors in natural light - parks, lakes, fields, city streets, urban areas... however, I am happy to come into your home and photograph your family in your own personal environment. We will discuss what you are wanting and find the best place to photograph for you. We will spend about 1 hour together capturing your families natural expressions and connections.
What should I wear?
Clothing is a very important part of your session. I want your personal style and taste to be reflected in your clothing choices while making sure your clothing photographs well. Color, textures, and layer can add wonderful depth, dimension and beauty to your session. Some good choices of clothing include (but are definitely not limited to) jean jackets, flowing dresses and skirts, hats, scarves, crocheted dresses, lace, floppy hats, and layered shirts. Accessories also add interesting detail to shoots such as long necklaces, cool shoes, bows, and cute hats. Patterns such as plaid, polka dots, and flowers can be worn. However brand name logos, busy and/or bright patterns, and graphics can be distracting and take away from your photographs.
Color coordinating is an excellent idea. I wrote a blog article about color coordination here which can be quite helpful with finding complimentary colors when choosing outfits. White, blacks, greys, and browns are beautiful neutral colors that can be spiced up when other colors are added into the mix. You don't want to go overboard with the amount of colors. A good rule of thumb would be to choose 2-3 complimentary colors to go with a neutral. And in the end, I want your photographs to turn out beautifully and showcase who you are. Feel free to discuss your outfit choices with me, and I will help lead you in the right direction for your photography session.
When will I receive my images?
I typically try to have sneak peeks, 1-3 images, within a week of your session. I usually share these on Facebook with your permission. Your gallery will be available for you to review within 2 weeks of your session date. From there, you can browse your entire photo session in an online gallery and select which photos will be in your final collection.
I truly believe in the importance of printing your photos, so I offer a selection of high quality professional prints, canvases, and metal prints for you to choose from if you would like to have prints made.
Do you offer mini-sessions?
I offer mini-sessions at different times throughout the year. Check my blog and please follow my Facebook page to receive additional information on mini-sessions.
