Safe, Socially Distanced photography during Covid

One of the most common questions I get asked for almost a year now is ‘What safety pre-cautions are you taking with Covid?’

I think this is a great question and should be asked to any business you are working with! Especially if you could possible be coming into close contact with a person. I wanted to address this because I truly believe in keeping not only my clients safe, by myself and my family safe during this Covid-19 pandemic.

  1. I always wear a mask.
Whether I’m photographing newborns in your house or outside in a park, I have a mask on. Every little thing helps, and I want to make sure my clients feel safe.

  2. Social distancing is a must when it can be done.
If I’m photographing you and your family outside, I’ll use my long lens which requires me to stand at least 10 feet from you. If I do use one of my shorter focal length lenses on my camera, I still do my best to keep 6ft away from the families and children I’m photographing. If I’m photographing in your house, I distance myself as much as possible in order to get the photos I need. This is a little more difficult in smaller spaces, especially when photographing newborns, but if I do need to get close, I’m wearing my mask as an extra layer of protection for you and your family.

  3. Honesty is key!
I ask all my clients to tell me if they have been in close contact with anyone who’s tested positive for Covid-19 recently. There’s nothing wrong in having to reschedule a photo session for these circumstances. I understand these are un-precedented times, and I will work with you to reschedule. And be assured if I ever get exposed, I will tell my clients immediately and reschedule at no cost to you.

As we continue to navigate the pandemic, I will always be upfront and honest with my clients to keep everyone safe. I want to keep photographing you and your family as you grow throughout the year, so don’t hesitate to reach out and grab a slice of life captured on film!
