Spring, Bluebonnets, and COVID-19

Let’s start with the big elephant in the room, COVID-19.

Unfortunately, this unprecedented pandemic is present in the Round Rock, Austin, and Central Texas area.

My children’s schools are closed for 2 weeks. My husband has been working at home for over a week now. We share an office, and before Friday, he was mainly using my desk and monitor. So you can only imagine the amount of work I got done while trying to get any work done sitting on my bed with my laptop. I started homeschooling my kids today which came with 1 minor meltdown, a crying jag, and a heated discussion about rounding numbers. On a positive note, I was not the one to cry!!

Being honest while trying to shield my two older kids about the coronavirus and the real effects of it is a tight rope balancing act. Having to explain to my two younger kids why they can’t see their friends is hard. Mainly because I have this discussion with them every day, and I get tired of repeating myself.

So I’m dealing with this whole ordeal the only way I know how, day by day. My kids will not be geniuses at the end of homeschooling. I will definitely need a vacation and trip to the day spa. But at least everyone is healthy right now.

As far as spring goes, we’ve been having awesome weather around here (except the rain this past weekend)! We’ve been lucky enough to play outside, walk the dogs, exercise in our front yard, and ride bikes around the neighborhood and trails.

The Texas Bluebonnets are blooming! If you haven’t seen them, I highly suggest a nice walk or drive around the area. It’s nice to see beautiful Texas wildflowers out during this time.

As far as my photography business, I’m trucking along. I’m taking sessions on a limited basis. If you’re interested in a photo session, please email me at emily@emilyingallsphotography.com to discuss a date and time. My photo sessions follow all the rules put in place by our State and County Officials with groups of 10 or less people and social distancing of at least 6 feet. I’ll use my long lens (70-200mm for all your techie folks!) which means I have to stand back quite a ways to photograph people.

If you have a time sensitive photo session (aka newborns), please contact me so we can discuss it. I’m happy to keep offering newborn photo sessions as long as I possibly can.

In the meantime, I’m learning new editing skills and getting up-to-date on editing my own family’s photos. Maybe I’ll finally get to last summer’s beach trip! Yes, that’s how far behind I am on my own photos (eek!).

God Bless and Stay Safe!

Emily
