When to book your newborn photo session

Newborns are the most adorably, cute little people to photograph!  With their squishiness, rolls, and sweet cheeks, newborn babies are captivating in their own right.

But I often get asked when is the best time to book my newborn photo session?  Today I'm going to give you answer!

I encourage my clients to book their session in their last trimester of pregnancy.  This way I can put your due date on my calendar and have an idea of when to expect to have your newborn photos.

As with many things in life, I understand due dates are more of an estimate than an exact science.  I never made it to a single due date during all 4 of my pregnancies.  I was any where from 2 weeks to 10 days early.  And I've had many friends whose babies decided to arrive late, and other friends who had to be induced.  The whole pregnancy and due date is a best guess scenario.  I always take into account my clients due date is flexible, so I can work with you and your family once your newborn arrives.

I also encourage my clients to book while their pregnant because once your newborn gets here, life gets crazy.  Especially for first time parents.  There's all new things to learn, life changes and adjustments that throw everyone's schedule out of whack.  Even adding another little one to your family, I understand that it can take time to adjust everyone to a newborn baby. If you already have a photographer booked for your newborn photos, it's one less thing to worry about for you!  All you need to do is email or call me after the baby is born, and together, we'll figure out a good date and time to schedule your newborn photo session.

Newborn photo sessions are best scheduled within the first 7-10 days of birth.  Already having your photographer booked allows you to sit back and relax during that first week of no sleep and adjustment to your new little one.

And if you are true go-getter and organized person, you can always book your newborn photo session earlier than second trimester.  I will be seriously impressed because I was a slacker and no that organized (even by my 4th baby)!

If you're wanting to book your newborn photo session or would like more information on what I offer for newborn sessions, please email me at emilyingallsphotography@gmail.com and I'd be happy to answer any questions.

Ringing in 2018!

It's not too hard to believe it's 2018.  At least for me.

I am happy to leave 2017 behind.  It was a year full of accomplishments, goals, expectations, along with sickness, disappointment and failures.  Last year brought me to my humble knees along with lifting me up and giving me great highs.

One of my favorite highlights from last year was a trip to Rome, Italy I took with my husband, brother and brother-in-law.  I had great expectations of writing and sharing my entire trip on my blog, but life got in the way and I didn't get the opportunity to share.  But let me just say, it's was a trip I will never forget in the best way possible.

And somethings I could have lived without would be coming down with Shingles.  Ugh!  It was not pleasant, and it was brought on my stress.  I do not want a repeat of that.  And I could have lived without my 5 year old son breaking his arm two weeks before Christmas and sitting in an ER for 7 hours.  Then having to have surgery to fix it three days after Christmas.  He's still in a cast and will be until mid-January.  I'm just thankful it's finally fixed properly.

As for 2018, I have goals swirling around in my head I need to write down on paper.  Photography goals, business goals, and personal goals.  I find I keep myself a lot more accountable if I write them down in a place where I'll see them throughout the year.  They will go into my 2018 Planner that also has my monthly calendar.

I'm looking forward to the New Year.  I want to make positive changes not only in my life but my family's life.  I'm determined to be more positive and optimistic.  I tend to be a pessimistic, glass half-empty type of person.

Here's to a new year.  More blogging, writing, and sharing myself with you instead of just my client's photos.

Newborn Twins in the NICU | Austin, TX

As many of you who read my blogs regularly know, I'm a volunteer photographer with The Tiny Footprints Project.  The Tiny Footprints Project offers free photo sessions to parents who have newborns in the NICU.  They have photographers all over the country who volunteer their time to give parents the precious gifts of photos and memories during an especially difficult time.

I had the opportunity to photographer newborn twins at Dell Children's in Austin at the beginning of October.  They were only ten days old at the time and were so tiny.  Their parents were the nicest people who already adored both of their precious babies.  Photographing their twins was an honor, and I hope they cherish these memories for years to come.

Baby Zachary | Newborn Photo Session | Georgetown, TX

Last Friday, I had the privilege to photograph baby Zachary in Georgetown, Texas.  When I arrived at his home, I heard his amazing story.  Zachary had been adopted into the most beautiful, loving home to parents who adore him.  His mom was the sweetest person, and I could see her unconditional love for him.  Zachary had just turned 2 weeks old, but did not want to sleep during his newborn photo session.  I captured his baby blue eyes a lot.  I hope you enjoy this amazing newborn photo session taken in Georgetown, TX as much as I did photographing it.

Newborn Photo Session | Round Rock, TX

I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful newborn girl a couple of weeks ago.  She decided to surprise her parents by coming a few weeks early, but Mom and Dad were excited to see her sweet face!  Nothing quite like looking into the eyes of your sweet baby girl for the first time!

Not only did I have the pleasure of photographing this sweet newborn, but I was able to capture the love between Mom and Dad with their new baby girl.  As an added bonus, their cute dog wanted to join in on the action of being in the photo session.  Congratulations to this sweet family and their new baby girl!
