Adorable First Communion Photos | Austin and Round Rock Photographer

First Communion portrait sessions are one of the most adorable things I photograph!

These kids meet me up at their church, dressed in their beautiful white dresses for girls and suits for boys. They are so excited to have their upcoming First Communion at church! I get big smiles and reverent portraits all in one portrait session! It always brings a smile to my face!

I had the opportunity to photograph second graders at St. John Neuman Catholic Church in Austin and St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Round Rock this year. Both Catholic churches are gorgeous inside and out.

Parents know to document these milestones for your children, but some times with the hustle and bustle of life, we tend to forget or put it off to the last minute.

Don’t let that happen!

The beauty of these photos is they were all taken before the day of First Communion, so the families and children didn’t feel rushed or pressured to get everything done on the same day. I could capture the excitement on their faces when they were telling me what they were looking forward to the most on their First Communion day. And most of the children brought their rosaries to their portrait sessions to include in their portraits!

Check out these beautiful First Communion portrait sessions!

Moms get in the picture! | Austin and Round Rock Texas Family Photographer

I’ll admit it. I’m guilty of this.

Mom and Kids photography-Family Photographer_Round Rock Photographer_Emily Ingalls Photography_Austin Photographer_Pflugerville Photographer_Georgetown Photographer-3.jpg

As a Mom, I take photos of my children for them to have when they are older. I want them to remember the fun times, the silly times, and the dirty times of their childhood. I want them to have photos of their birthdays, special events, the sports they played, and the vacations we go on. I want them to have photos of their brothers and sister, and our whole family.

But… sadly, I’m hardly in any photos with my kids.

Usually, it’s because I’m the one behind the camera as the family photographer. And I’m a bit of a control freak and won’t hand my camera off to just anyone. It took me about a year before I felt comfortable giving it to my husband.

If I’m not behind the camera, I always have an excuse. Not a good one per se, but an excuse nonetheless.

However… here comes the dilemma only I can solve.

If I don’t get in any photos with my kids, how will they remember me?

So this Mother’s Day, I’m making it a point to get in a photo with my kids!

And I’m encouraging all Moms to get in a photograph with your kids too! Give your kids a great memory to remember when they’re older. Give them the gift of you!

7 Mother's Day gifts for Mom

Mother’s Day is right around the corner! Do you know what you’re going to get her?

This year has flown by for me, and I can’t believe Mother’s Day is so close.

I know shopping for Mother’s Day gifts can be stressful, so I’ve put together a short list of some ideas for what you can get your Mom/Grandma/Stepmom (or anyone special in your life) for Mother’s Day.

Photo printed on glass by Fracture

I love these and one in my house. Fracture takes your photo and prints them on glass as a wall hanging. These are great for someone that doesn’t want to mess with framing, likes clean lines, and has a modern flare. Tthey are priced really well from $17-$135 for their largest.

Digital photo frame

We are all guilty of taking lots of pictures but never printing and framing them to put up in our house. This is a great way to see the photos you’ve taken either by a professional photographer or on your phone. Digital photo frames range in price from $100-$300 just depending on what you are looking for.

Customized Mother’s Day Photo card

Instead of sending her a normal card, send your Mom a customized Mother’s Day Card! Artifact Uprising is offering a free Mother’s Day card if you order by May 1, 2018. I love their prints and cards. They use heavy card stock and quality printing. While you’re there, take a look at their beautiful prints, frames, photo books, and prints with wood stands.

Custom set of photo coasters

Perfect for everyday use! There are a lot of places that have custom photo coasters. These are perfect for Grandma with lots of grandkids!

Subscription to Click Magazine

Does your Mom enjoy photography? Wants to learn more about photography? This magazine is perfect for everyone at any level! I read my cover to cover when it comes it. It has amazing tips! Plus, this gift gives all year round.

A camera charm

My husband gave me this one to put on my charm bracelet, and I love it! Especially since I’ve started shooting with film. This charm is super cute and really affordable! Check it out at here.

A gift certificate for family photos

Haven’t had family photos taken in awhile? Does Mom want updated photos to put up on the wall? Give it to her! Myself and many other photographers offer gift certificates for Moms because we know how much they want it! Contact me for your photo gift certificate.

These are just a few fun ideas to get you started! Take care of your Mom on Mother’s Day!

A special shout out to this Mom who had a special photo shoot with her son before she went out for Basic Training in the US Air Force. Thank you very much for your service and sacrifice!

Wishing you a Happy Mother’s Day!
Emily

Why I shoot Lifestyle Newborn Photography | Round Rock and Austin Newborn Photographer

When I first started, I knew I wanted to shoot Lifestyle Newborn Photography sessions. Don’t get me wrong, posed newborn photography is beautiful when done right, but it just wasn’t for me and it wasn’t my style. I wanted to capture newborns in their onw homes with their parents and siblings.

Lifestyle newborn photography takes a slight different approach. For me, it is all about capturing the love and connections within the family. Photographing your newborn in their nursery, surrounded be their things. Capturing the small details of the crib and changing table.

Having a baby is a huge milestone for parents. Whether is your first baby or your third, having those sweet moments between family members and your new baby in a photo is important. Those natural moments of Mom cuddling her new baby and Dad having that sweet smile for his newborn are two of the many reasons I love lifestyle newborn sessions.

I love to photograph, not only in the nursery, but in the parent’s bedroom as well. Siblings become a bit more relaxed on Mom and Dad’s bed. Everyone can get comfortable, snuggle, and be close. I see sweet kisses, cuddles, and true joy and happiness from the small moments.

Lifestyle newborn sessions are one of my favorite to photograph because of all of the family’s interactions.

That’s why I shoot lifestyle newborn, and that’s why I love it.

2019 Bluebonnet Season Outlook | Austin and Round Rock Family Photographer

According to the Texas Wildflower Haven, early bluebonnets have been spotted in Austin, Round Rock, and the Hill Country.

It’s looking like the 2018 Bluebonnet and Wildflower season will be a split season. Bluebonnets are starting to bloom on the sides of roads but not yet in fields.

But it could end up being an above average blooming season.

Locals often refer to the 2010 bluebonnet season as the best ever. 2019 could be just as beautiful as the 2010 blooming season! With the amount of rainfall and warming temperature, Central Texas has a good possibility of having a strikingly beautiful bluebonnet season!

While we still have to wait if the bluebonnets and wildflowers will live up to the forecasts expectations, Central Texas will still have lovely fields of bluebonnets to view!

Keep a look out for those blooming fields in the comings weeks!
