When to book your newborn photo session

Newborns are the most adorably, cute little people to photograph!  With their squishiness, rolls, and sweet cheeks, newborn babies are captivating in their own right.

But I often get asked when is the best time to book my newborn photo session?  Today I'm going to give you answer!

I encourage my clients to book their session in their last trimester of pregnancy.  This way I can put your due date on my calendar and have an idea of when to expect to have your newborn photos.

As with many things in life, I understand due dates are more of an estimate than an exact science.  I never made it to a single due date during all 4 of my pregnancies.  I was any where from 2 weeks to 10 days early.  And I've had many friends whose babies decided to arrive late, and other friends who had to be induced.  The whole pregnancy and due date is a best guess scenario.  I always take into account my clients due date is flexible, so I can work with you and your family once your newborn arrives.

I also encourage my clients to book while their pregnant because once your newborn gets here, life gets crazy.  Especially for first time parents.  There's all new things to learn, life changes and adjustments that throw everyone's schedule out of whack.  Even adding another little one to your family, I understand that it can take time to adjust everyone to a newborn baby. If you already have a photographer booked for your newborn photos, it's one less thing to worry about for you!  All you need to do is email or call me after the baby is born, and together, we'll figure out a good date and time to schedule your newborn photo session.

Newborn photo sessions are best scheduled within the first 7-10 days of birth.  Already having your photographer booked allows you to sit back and relax during that first week of no sleep and adjustment to your new little one.

And if you are true go-getter and organized person, you can always book your newborn photo session earlier than second trimester.  I will be seriously impressed because I was a slacker and no that organized (even by my 4th baby)!

If you're wanting to book your newborn photo session or would like more information on what I offer for newborn sessions, please email me at emilyingallsphotography@gmail.com and I'd be happy to answer any questions.
