Family Reunion

It's been a crazy past month around here!

The holidays have come and gone, ad I haven't written about all I've been up to in awhile!

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a Family Reunion in between Christmas and New Years.  Family came from California to New York to meet in Austin, Texas and spend some time together.  This family was so much fun!  And they timed it perfectly because the weather in Austin was in the 70s and 80s.  It was gorgeous!

We timed their family photography session perfectly with the sun down at Townlake and the Auditorium Shores.  The parents were celebrating their 40th Anniversary as well!

I was fortunate enough to photograph this family during their family reunion.  And they were hilarious and fun-loving, laid-back people.  I couldn't have asked for a family photography session to go any better!

Another fun Family Session!

I love photographing families on a normal day.  When I get to photograph a friend's family, it makes it extra special for me.

And this family was another great photography session!  We had fun exploring the creek, finding out how cold the water was, and taking beautiful family photographs throughout the whole experience.  And big brother loved making his baby sister laugh and smile!

And of course, nothing screams 'Holiday Photos' like 70 degree weather in Austin, Texas!  On a serious note, I'm glad I wasn't freezing my butt off as were Mom, Dad and kids!

Check out some serious cuteness and family photos!

Weekend Getaway: Fredericksburg, TX

Last month, my husband, Andrew, and I celebrated out 10 year anniversary.  10 year!  I must be a saint (just joking!).  Anyway, we got away for a short weekend and went out to Fredericksburg, TX.  We stayed at a cute little B&B called the Chuckwagon Inn

During out getaway, we tasted wine at the local Hill Country Wineries.  And I definitely want to go back because we were not able to hit a lot of them!

We took an entire morning to go over to Enchanted Rock and hike in the state park.  Albeit a hot morning, it was still gorgeous!  If you've never been out the hike the area, you should definitely go.  Andrew and I had a great time!  Just remember to bring plenty of water!  We could have used another bottle or two.

Even though it was way too short, we had an amazing weekend!  Check it out!

10 Year Anniversary!

We still got it! :)

And we can still laugh about at ourselves!

Together at last... Family Reunion

I had a blast last week shooting this family.  They reminded me a lot of my Dad's side of the family.

My Dad's side is a fun, crazy lot.  We have our own concept of entertainment (not quite blog appropriate).  We make fun of each other but love one another at the same time.  Every time we get together, some sort of epic event happens in which an awesome story is born.

For example at my Granny's funeral, my aunt receives a phone call during the reception from my great aunt (my Granny's sister).  Little back story, my family is originally from New Orleans, but my dad's side now lives in Florida which is where the funeral was held.  My great aunt was at the cemetery in New Orleans getting the above-ground family tomb ready for burial.  My dad's dad (my grandfather) was buried there years ago, and his casket was not there.

In New Orleans, they have above ground burials because the city is below sea level.  Only so many caskets can fit in the tomb above.  As people die, they take their caskets out and rebury the remains underneath the tomb in the ground.

The cemetery couldn't find my grandfather, who was supposed to be there.  And the workers at the cemetery refused to go underneath and look for him because they were scared.  My great aunt calls freaking out because Emmett's missing.  Let's just say, my family (and I) were three sheets to the wind and just about died laughing when we heard this.  Then started the jokes about how he heard my Granny died so he took off.  It's still a running family joke to this day.

So that's how my family rolls.

This family reunion was a long time in the making.  They were a fun bunch to shoot, and I kept hearing all the inside family jokes (which I totally didn't get but that's ok) said back and forth between members.  Enjoy!

Kristy and Ray's Wedding

On January 2, I was able to witness and capture the beautiful wedding of Kristy and Ray at the Coupland Dance Hall in Coupland, Texas.

I could feel the love of two people making a lifetime commitment to love, happiness, and family.  Their wedding reflected their personalities, and I loved being able to capture all those special moments for them.  Congratulations to the happy couple!  And I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
