Family Reunion

It's been a crazy past month around here!

The holidays have come and gone, ad I haven't written about all I've been up to in awhile!

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a Family Reunion in between Christmas and New Years.  Family came from California to New York to meet in Austin, Texas and spend some time together.  This family was so much fun!  And they timed it perfectly because the weather in Austin was in the 70s and 80s.  It was gorgeous!

We timed their family photography session perfectly with the sun down at Townlake and the Auditorium Shores.  The parents were celebrating their 40th Anniversary as well!

I was fortunate enough to photograph this family during their family reunion.  And they were hilarious and fun-loving, laid-back people.  I couldn't have asked for a family photography session to go any better!

Stop at Lake Pflugerville

Last week, I took the two littles over to Lake Pflugerville.  They love the water and throwing rocks into it.  I wanted to break up the monotony of going to a park to play.

What I didn't expect were the loud group of ducks waiting for us.  The ducks are accustomed to people but expect food from people.  And I was not prepared to feed ducks on my impromptu stop at the lake.

After weeks of rain, the ground by the edge of the lake was still quite muddy.  I was taking photos while running after one child or the other to keep them from becoming stuck and falling down into the mud.  Such fun parenting times!!

A sweet older gentleman stopped by the lake to feed the ducks.  He saw the kids and myself and decided to bring his bag of bread over to my littles allowing them to feed the ducks.  Such kindness is not always around these days, and it was very much appreciated by myself and my children.

The kids had so much fun feeding the ducks!  I've promised to take them back to feed the ducks.  I'm putting it on my to do list now so I don't forget about it.

Here's a small share of documentary photos I took while at Lake Pflugerville and of the kids feeding the ducks.

Lensbaby Edge 80!

I had a birthday a couple weeks ago, and my awesome husband got me a Lensbaby Edge 80!  He's the best!

The Lensbaby Edge 80 is a fun, creative lens.  It allows me to focus on a slice in my frame while blurring the rest out of focus.

I've been taking it out for a spin a couple times a week to get used it since it's quite different than any other camera lens I own.  After some trial and error, I'm finally getting the hang of it!  Check out some of my recent photos with my new optic Edge 80.

Walk along the Trail

We are lucky enough to have the Brushy Creek Trail just a short distance from our house.  The Brushy Creek Trail is almost a 7 mile trail which will one day extend the entire width of Round Rock, East to West, and into north Austin.

My kids love to walk on the trail.  I like it because the path by our house is almost completely shaded which is perfect on the hot, summer days we've been having.  The trail is runs along a rancher's land who has longhorns and a donkey.  If we're lucky, the longhorns and donkey are grazing a feeding next to the trail.

Last week was one of those lucky mornings.  All four kids tried to feed the donkey, but he wasn't having it.  My kids were mesmerized by the longhorns and just stood and watched them until I finally said we have to go back to the car.  I was getting hot.

Grandma, Mom, and Me!

Last Saturday, we had some serious thunderstorms roll into our area.  About an hour before everything hit, I photographed a fabulous Mom and Me session!

For one, I was able to get 3 generations in one photo.  And two, this family is flat out adorable!  They were all smiles!  Becky, Becky's mom, and her three kids were great to photograph!
